By public transport
The easiest way to travel by bus/tram to the Johannes Gutenberg-University Mainz is by using the mainstation as your starting point. Up there, you're leaving the building of the mainstation at its rear exit which is called "Hauptbahnhof West". Follow the path on the left side of the parking space, cross over the street (Binger Straße) and get to the busstation "Hauptbahnhof West/Taubertsbergbad".
Up from here you can use plenty of busses or trams to the campus. Take one of the following public transports until the stop "Friedrich-von-Pfeiffer-Weg". It's the second stop on your ride.

If you have used one of the busses no. 54/55/56 you need to cross the footbridge. If you have used the tram 51/53/59 you are already on the right side of the street.
Up here, if you are standing with your back to the station, you walk a little bit to the left and take then directly the first street to your right, which is called "Friedrich-von-Pfeiffer-Weg". You walk down the street until you arrive at a crossing street called "Jakob-Welder-Weg". Turn to the left and follow the "Jakob-Welder-Weg" for about 200m. You will arrive at a complex of buildings where you can see a sculpture called "Man with Horse" in front of it. Enter the first building to your left and take the 2nd stair on the right side. There you can find the "Fakultätssaal".
You can buy your ticket at the bus driver's cabin. Just ask for a "short distance ticket" to the "Friedrich-von-Pfeiffer-Weg".

If you are coming from the west...
(from the direction of Cologne/Bonn) ... follow highway A60 via Autobahndreieck Mainz towards Darmstadt, leave A60 at the Mainz-Finthen exit, follow the signs for Saarstrasse/Innenstadt to the Europaplatz roundabout, from which you need to take the Universität exit.
If you are coming from the east...
(from the direction of Würzburg/Darmstadt) ... follow highway A60 via Autobahndreieck Rüsselsheim or, if on highway A63, leave this at Autobahnkreuz Mainz and join A60 towards Bingen, leave A60 at the Mainz-Finthen exit, follow the signs for Saarstrasse/Innenstadt to the Europaplatz roundabout, from which you need to take the Universität exit.
If you are coming from the north...
(from the direction of Kassel) ... follow highway A66, leave this at Schiersteiner Kreuz and join A643 towards Mainz. Leave A643 at Autobahndreieck Mainz and join A60 towards Darmstadt. Leave A60 at the Mainz-Finthen exit, follow the signs for Saarstrasse/Innenstadt to the Europaplatz roundabout, from which you need to take the Universität exit.
In addition to the parking facilities shown on the map, you can also park at the football stadium which is just 200 m north of the main pedestrian entrance to the campus.
By air
There are two airports located in the vicinity of Mainz:

Continue your journey by bus:
The ORN bus leaves from Terminal 3 every three hours for Mainz main station. Tickets cost about EUR 10.00, travel time: about 1.5 hours.

Anreise mit der Bahn und öffentlichen Verkehrsmitteln
Mainz verfügt über einen Hauptbahnhof, von welchem die Johannes Gutenberg-Universität Mainz am besten zu erreichen ist. Wenn man den Hauptbahnhof Mainz durch den Hinterausgang (Hauptbahnhof West) verlässt und dem Weg bis zu einer großen Straße (Binger Straße) folgt, erreicht man die Bushaltestelle „Hauptbahnhof West/Taubertsbergbad“.
Ab hier können folgende Straßen- und Busbahnlinien bis "Friedrich-von-Pfeiffer-Weg" genutzt werden:

Wenn Sie mit dem Bus gefahren sind, müssen Sie die Fußgängerbrücke überqueren. Haben Sie eine Straßenbahn genutzt, sind Sie bereits auf der Richtigen Straßenseite.
Wenn Sie nun mit dem Rücken zur Haltestelle „Friedrich-von-Pfeiffer-Weg“ stehen, laufen Sie einige Meter nach links und danach rechts in den „Friedrich-von-Pfeiffer-Weg“ bis Sie an eine querverlaufende Straße stoßen. Dies ist der „Jakob-Welder-Weg“. Biegen Sie nun links ab und laufen Sie ca. 200m geradeaus. Zu Ihrer Linken befindet sich ein Gebäudekomplex. Zur Orientierung: davor befindet sich die Skulptur „Mann mit Pferd“. Begeben Sie sich nun in den ersten, linken Flurtrakt des Gebäudes. Nutzen Sie die 2. Treppe auf der rechten Seite. Der Fakultätssaal befindet sich im 1. OG.
Für die Fahrt vom Hauptbahnhof bis zum Friedrich-von-Pfeiffer-Weg genügt eine sog. "Kurzstrecken"-Fahrkarte; sie ist günstiger als der normale Tarif und beim Busfahrer oder am Automaten erhältlich.

Wenn Sie von Westen kommen
(d. h. aus Richtung Bonn/Köln) folgen Sie der Autobahn A60 über das Autobahndeieck Mainz in Richtung Darmstadt, verlassen die Autobahn bei der Ausfahrt Mainz-Finthen, folgen dem Schild Saarstraße/Innenstadt geradeaus durch den Kreisel Europaplatz hindurch bis zur Ausfahrt Universität.
Wenn Sie von Osten kommen
(d. h. aus Richtung Würzburg/Darmstadt) folgen Sie der Autobahn A60 über das Autobahndreieck Rüsselsheim oder von der A63 aus über das Autobahnkreuz Mainz auf die A60 nach Bingen, verlassen die Autobahn bei der Ausfahrt Mainz-Finthen, folgen dem Schild Saarstraße/Innenstadt geradeaus durch den Kreisel Europaplatz hindurch bis zur Ausfahrt Universität.
Wenn Sie von Norden kommen
(d. h. aus Richtung Kassel) folgen Sie der Autobahn A66 und wechseln am Schiersteiner Kreuz auf die A643 Richtung Mainz, folgen der Autobahn bis zum Autobahndreieck Mainz, wo Sie auf die A60 Richtung Darmstadt wechseln. Sie verlassen die Autobahn bei der Ausfahrt Mainz-Finthen, folgen dem Schild Saarstraße/Innenstadt geradeaus durch den Kreisel Europaplatz hindurch bis zur Ausfahrt Universität.
Parkmöglichkeiten finden Sie außer auf den im Lageplan angegebenen Plätzen auch am Fußballstadion, das circa 200 m nördlich vom Fußgängerhaupteingang entfernt ist.
Anreise mit dem Flugzeug
Mit dem Flugzeug können Sie an zwei Flughäfen in der Nähe von Mainz landen:
